Meet Dr. Angie Smith
A patient of our practice since she was in her teens, Dr. Angie Smith has been a part of Okanagan Orthodontics for over 25 years! After her own experience with extensive orthodontic treatment, she came to appreciate the unique blend of art and science involved in creating a patient’s new smile. Because each patient is different, this profession provides Dr. Smith with the opportunity to think creatively when choosing treatment options to address a patient's unique needs.
Dr. Smith feels a great sense of privilege knowing that she has the opportunity be a positive influence in her patients’ lives.
A native of Kelowna, BC, Dr. Smith began her education at the University of Calgary, earning her Bachelor of Science degree with honors. She continued on to the University of Manitoba for her Doctorate of Dental Medicine with honors, and completed her Residency in Orthodontics and Master of Science in Clinical Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario.
For Dr. Smith, becoming an orthodontic specialist has been as rewarding as it has been humbling. Treating people is a privilege that she treasures, and she believes it is important to continue to be a student of the profession. Being a good orthodontist involves a lifelong process of learning. Dr. Smith loves to evaluate new treatment systems that can lead to more efficient, more comfortable, and improved outcomes for her patients.
Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a member of the Canadian and American Associations of Orthodontists, as well as the Canadian Dental Association, the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, and the Kelowna and District Dental Society, of which she has also been part of the Executive Committee. As a member of the Cleft Palate team of Kelowna, she helps provide information, support, and treatment guidance for cleft lip and palate patients and their families.

Most of Dr. Smith’s leisure time is spent caring for her sweet and busy children. Occasionally, (and rather unsuccessfully) she and her husband, Scott, attempt to improve their golf game. She also enjoys rustic travel adventures and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends.
